History of Bortesi
Since 1966, Bortesi has been a leading name in the logistics and transport sector, standing out for its pioneering vision within the industry. The company was founded in Milan, Italy, where its headquarters remain today and where the Bortesi family continues to play an essential role in its management.
Over the years, Bortesi first expanded its presence nationally, with offices in Livorno and Naples, before taking its operations international with new branches in New York and Sydney.
Our Journey in Spain
In 1975, Bortesi began its operations in Spain under the leadership of Mr. Giuseppe Izzillo. With extensive experience in the maritime sector and rail transport, as well as in the management of shipping lines between the Mediterranean, the United States and Canada, his role was key to driving the company’s expansion in the Spanish market.
During this period, Bortesi specialised in the transport of food products, both dry and refrigerated, quickly establishing itself as a leading operator on routes to the United States, Canada and Australia.

Recent Development
In 2022, Savino Del Bene Group became the company’s majority shareholder. That same year, Mr. Arduino Pedicelli, who joined Bortesi in 2015 and became a key figure alongside Mr. Izzillo, took on the role of General Manager, leading a new phase of renewed focus while preserving Bortesi’s essence: personalised service and strong specialisation in the food sector.
To strengthen its presence in southern Spain, Bortesi opened a new office in Seville in 2024, bringing the company closer to its clients in Andalusia and reinforcing its commitment to providing a close, high-quality service.
In 2025, we proudly celebrate 50 years of history in Spain, marked by steady growth and a lasting legacy of dedication to service. On this special occasion, we pay tribute to Mr. Izzillo, who, at the age of 85, has decided to begin a well-deserved retirement after a lifetime of invaluable contributions to the company.
